WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Vice President Mike Pence said on Tuesday that the United States has lifted sanctions on Venezuelan General Manuel Cristopher Figuera, the former chief of the South American country's intelligence service, who last week turned against President Nicolas Maduro.
“We hope this action will encourage others to follow the example of General Cristopher Figuera and other members of the military,” Pence said in a speech prepared for a conference at the State Department.
