4 police officers shot, fifth injured while serving narcotics warrant in Houston

At least four police officers were shot while on duty in Houston on Monday. One had to be airlifted to the hospital.Two suspects were killed in the incident, KTRK-TV reported. Police reportedly cordoned the surrounding area and are looking for a third suspect.The police obtained a warrant after undercover officers operated in the area, The Chronicle reported, citing a law enforcement source. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott responded to the shooting, saying in a statement: “This evening's horrific attack on police officer is a solemn reminder of the service and sacrifice our brave men and women in law enforcement make every day to keep us safe.”Other law enforcement departments offered condolences to the affected police officers. At least nine law enforcement officers have died in the line of duty in January, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page.“Our hearts go out to the officers and their families in Houston,” the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office said on Twitter. “We now stand with the rest of the world hoping for the best possible outcome.”This is a developing story.
