Einer Umfrage des Ifo-Instituts nach sinkt die Einstellungsbereitschaft der Unternehmen gerade in allen Branchen.
Wer den ersten richtigen Job beginnt, wenn die Wirtschaft auf dem Tiefpunkt steht, wird schlechter bezahlt – und zwar über die ersten 15 Jahre seiner Karriere.
Der Einkommensverlust beträgt laut einer Untersuchung ganze sechs Prozent. Karriere-Experten raten deshalb dringend dazu, sich „rezessionssicher aufzustellen.
Ob es der Wirtschaft gut oder schlecht geht, wenn ihr eure Karriere startet, ist im Hinblick auf euer Lebenseinkommen durchaus entscheidend. Tretet ihr während eines wirtschaftlichen Abschwungs in den Arbeitsmarkt ein, so werdet ihr mehr Schwierigkeiten haben, einen Job zu finden – einen gut bezahlten noch dazu. Berufsanfängerinnen und Berufsanfänger, die zum Zeitpunkt des Aufschwungs einsteigen, haben da weitaus bessere Chancen. Und dieser anfängliche Einkommensnachteil ist dauerhaft: Er wirkt sich auf die Höhe eures Einkommens über viele Berufsjahre aus.
Das ist das Ergebnis eines Papers von US-Wissenschaftlern der University of Delaware, der Federal Reserve Bank of Boston und dem Institute of Labor Economics. Parag Mahajan und seine Kollegen haben anhand des deutschen Arbeitsmarktes untersucht, wie sich Rezessionen auf die Karriereverläufe und das Gehalt auswirken. Rezession bedeutet, dass das Wirtschaftswachstum zwei Quartale in Folge sinkt, statt zu steigen oder zu stagnieren. Wer in einer solchen Phase beginnt zu arbeiten, muss demnach mit einem Einkommensverlust rechnen: Sechs Prozent weniger Gehalt gibt es dann in den ersten 15 Berufsjahren im Schnitt.
Für ihre Analyse nutzten die Forscher unter anderem Daten der Beschäftigtenhistorik des Instituts für Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung. Während des untersuchten Zeitraums von 2003 bis 2017 machten Bewerberinnen und Bewerber mit einer abgeschlossenen Berufsausbildung mit 56 Prozent einen Großteil der Berufseinsteiger aus. Der restliche Anteil waren Hochschulabsolventinnen und Hochschulabsolventen mit einem Bachelor- oder Master-Abschluss oder einem Doktor. Insgesamt umfasste die Stichprobe knapp 4.500.000 junge Menschen.
