Chanos Prognosen über Tesla
Chanos, der am besten dafür bekannt ist, den Zusammenbruch von Enron in den frühen 2000er Jahren vorherzusagen und davon zu profitieren, sagte, Tesla erinnere ihn an frühere hochfliegende Aktien wie Cisco während der Dot-Com-Ära – einer Zeit, als Investoren Geld in Online-Startups investierten, in der Hoffnung, dass sie daraus große Ziele gewinnen können. Die Tesla-Aktien stiegen von etwa Split-bereinigten 30 Euro zu Beginn des Jahres 2020 auf über 404 Euro zu ihrem Höchststand im vergangenen November – und handeln nun um 226 Euro. Die Marktkapitalisierung des Unternehmens habe sich dadurch auf 700 Milliarden US-Dollar, also 707 Milliarden Euro, erhöht.
Chanos warnte jedoch davor, dass die Bewertung des Autoherstellers weitgehend auf einem Glauben beruhe und die Anleger schon bald mit einem Realitätscheck konfrontiert werden könnten. „Das Problem, das Tesla jetzt hat, ist nicht nur, dass der CEO mit Twitter beschäftigt ist, sondern es ist wirklich, wirklich schwer, ein Luxusautohersteller zu sein und 40 Prozent, 50 Prozent Einheiten zu wachsen, sagte er und bezog sich auf Teslas jährliches Absatzziel.
