Abstract:The article reports that Jes Staley, a former JPMorgan executive, will testify about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and his alleged involvement in sex trafficking in the coming week. JPMorgan has charged Staley with intentional and outrageous conduct for keeping Epstein's information a secret and is seeking to have him return eight years of salary and pay back any losses the bank may sustain from litigation involving Epstein.
Jes Staley, a former executive in charge of private finance at JPMorgan Chase & Co., will give testimony about his interactions with Jeffrey Epstein and his claimed involvement in sex trafficking the following week. During a meeting on Thursday, attorneys for JPMorgan made the declaration. On March 23 and 24, Staley, who formerly worked as CEO of Barclays Plc, will be removed from office.
Staley was charged by JPMorgan with engaging in “intentional and outrageous conduct” by keeping information about Epstein, whom he regarded as a buddy, a secret. The bank has launched a case against Staley in an effort to have him return eight years of salary and pay back JPMorgan for any losses the business may sustain from other litigation involving Epstein.
Despite acknowledging their friendship, Staley has maintained that she was unaware of Epstein's alleged wrongdoings. Inquiries for feedback have gone unanswered from his attorney, Brendan Sullivan.
After being charged with trading in human sex in July of that year, Epstein passed away in a Manhattan jail cell in August of that same year.
Judge Jed Rakoff has merged the cases brought against JPMorgan by Staley, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Jane Doe, a victim of Epstein. September 5 was the initially scheduled date for the hearing; a new date of October 23 has been set.
Rakoff mandated JPMorgan last week to deliver additional Jamie Dimon-related papers. There is no proof that Dimon and Epstein are romantically involved, according to Felicia Ellsworth, counsel for JPMorgan on Thursday.
It's also possible to postpone a hearing involving a victim of Epstein who is fighting Deutsche Bank AG.
