I am sure you have heard of Robot Trading at some point in your trading career as there are a number of advantages to using robots to trade, and there are thousands who are killing the market using them. If you are robot trading you are going to need a VPS So today we are going to into what a VPS is and why robot traders need one to boost their results
What is a VPS
A Virtual Personal Server (VPS) in the simplest of terms is a virtual computer that you connect to using an internet connection. This means it looks exactly like your own machine that you install it into but it is running on a server that is not in your country. You are able to essentially control this virtual computer using the hardware of your computer. When you obtain a VPS you are able to install applications on that virtual machine that can run 24/7 whilst your own computer is off. You are able to run programs that are slow on your pc on that virtual machine.
You can use robots to just assist your trading, like showing special alerts or risk management. For those who are short on time and live busy lives, robot trading can be the best option for you. You can find robots to install or code robots yourself on your MT4 platform under the tab Expert Advisors
Because these robots need your trading platform to be open all the time to run you are not able to trade 24/7 as your computer may switch off or lose connection. You may also want to trade on a computer that is not yours. You will be unable to access your robot unless you are on the computer on which the robot is installed. Your computer sometimes loses connection or may have a faulty connection. This will mess with your robot performance and ruin your trades.
If you are looking to get a VPS for trading you can also a free one from WikiFx. They advise you on which brokers to use as they show you which brokers have the smallest spreads and the best robot trading environments on their website. They also show you which brokers are known scams so you can stay away from them. If you are Robot trading, use the WikiFx VPS
Why do I need a VPS for Robot Trading
You will be able to run your robot 24/7 without an interrupted connection. So even if you switch off your computer, or if you cannot connect to the internet for some reason your robot will still execute your trades on your behalf. Because it is a virtual machine, you will be able to access your MT4 platform on any computer without having to download MT4 or reinstall any programs. So you can even check on your trades at work or on a friend's computer. It is really a neat way to increase the productivity of your trading program.
