ROME (Reuters) - Italy's ruling League party will never vote in parliament to block construction of a multibillion-euro Alpine tunnel that its coalition partner, the 5 Star Movement fiercely opposes, Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini said on Friday.
A dispute in Italy's coalition over the future of the high-speed rail link with France escalated suddenly on Thursday and raised the risk of a government collapse.
“We will never vote in parliament to stop it,” Salvini, who is also leader of the League, said in an interview with Radio 102.5. “The majority of Italians are in favor”.
